I had today and yesterday off of work – possibly the first time so far I’ve had two days off in a row, so of course I’ve hardly relaxed, it feels like.
Yesterday, I walked 3-some miles over to Grandma and Grandpa’s to mow their lawn for them – Grandpa needs knee surgery and the mower is too heavy for Grandma, so I’ve been mowing their lawn lately. I get paid for it, but only because I haven’t gotten the timing right to be over there when they’re NOT home. I also cleaned my fish tank yesterday and did a little laundry, though I still have to do most of it tonight still, and worked on cleaning up my room and working on dishes as well. I also took care of Chompers again yesterday – I’m trying to make it down to the hangar as often as I can, since Chomps seems to be pretty lonely. Now if only I could get that cat to stop shedding, we’d be set. As it is, he just keeps aggravating my allergies even moreso than they already are. Grandma and Grandpa also took me out to dinner last night at Olive Garden, and then I finally got around to watching the VHS I’d borrowed from Nikki of “Swiss Family Robinson,” which I’d never seen before. Also got my quilt backing fabric washed, but not ironed. Ran out of time last night (and spray starch) and I’ve decided today that I’m too tired and it’s too warm out to iron 9.25 yards of fabric!
Today… wow. First, my nose has been running literally all day, which is disgusting. I’m sure everybody wanted to know that, too. Grandma and Grandpa came over and Grandma helped me work on the front gardens, which have gotten very much out of control. It was awesome to have the help, because it makes it easier, keeps me moving, and Grandma can point out what is plant and what is weed that way. I discovered that, being in the sun more than I’d expected, sunblock is necessary next time I work on the yard – especially since I haven’t spent this much continuous time in the sun since Disney World at the end of April (woo, full time job keeping me in doors… not). I also bought a great big flowerpot for my little raspberry plant, and I’m hoping it will be happier in better soil, though I still have to dig it up. I found a single ripe raspberry on it! It was yummy, but then I accidentally broke a stalk that had four un-ripe raspberries on it. I also got the lawn mowed, and put moss killer down, and now I’m working on moving a sprinkler around to water the dying grass. I’ll have to be sure to water it good the evening of the 3rd, since my neighborhood ends up looking like a battlefield with all the firecrackers on the 4th. I still have to go take care of the cat, since I don’t plan on making it down to the hangar tomorrow, do laundry, finish watering the lawn…
Some days off!
Whitney’s wedding on Sunday evening was gorgeous. Nikki and I went and got our nails done earlier that day, which was tons of fun, since I get that done about once a year. The wedding was at the aquarium, with this enormous aquarium wall full of Puget Sound life as the backdrop for the ceremony. It was a fairly small crowd as weddings go, but that made it fun, too – I got to chat with Whitney a bit that way! Found out she’s off to Texas for three years, though it sounds like she may be back when her husband re-deploys for a year, so hopefully we’ll get to hang out a bit then! Whitney and her dress was absolutely gorgeous, too.
