Last weekend was awesome. An aborted plan of doing the Puyallup Fair had gotten me Friday and Saturday off with no plans to speak of other than bike rides, since I’d requested the days off and then found out it was a bad time to be going to the fair. I ended up getting invited to go skeet shooting, and had a blast.
I was unaware that going skeet shooting involved a half an hour or so of off-roading in a Jeep to get there, which was interesting since I’d never been off-roading before. I actually ended up with a bruise on my left hip from the seatbelt, which has thankfully faded already. The bruise on my upper arm from not getting the shotgun snugged into my shoulder good enough before firing once is still this charming shade of yellow-green. No tank tops for me for a little while longer, I guess! I had a blast shooting – and even with the drive up and back – and now I want my own shotgun. Dear Santa…? Haha, like that would happen.
I think I did well enough to not embarrass myself in front of the guys, other than a low-grade-freakout with the off-roading. The next day I felt more like I’d been run over by the Jeep rather than having ridden in it, but with how much fun I had, it was worth it!
Unfortunately, between feeling run over, my work schedule, and having a greater desire to buy the newest Dan Brown book the day it came out, I haven’t been on a bike ride since Saturday. Slacker, I know. I’m hoping to go tomorrow, weather permitting. I’m not far enough into the new book yet to determine if it is any good or not, but I figure as the third book starring Robert Langdon, it can’t be bad. And even though the ending of Da Vinci Code and the entirety of Angels and Demons as a movie drove me bonkers, I can’t help but picturing Tom Hanks as Langdon as I read.
Bones premieres tomorrow night, and Nikki’s coming over for dinner, wii, an Bones. I bought the new “Toy Story Mania!” wii game, and so far it’s a lot of fun. Very much like the ride at the Disney parks. In Disney World, even the fastpass line was ridiculously long, but worth it. I’m hoping to get up to Seattle to go dancing on Friday night, and there are plans in the works for the Puyallup Fair on Sunday. I’m stoked that I can eat taffy this year – last year I had braces!
