So I’ve been an “advanced” manager trainee at work for a little while now, and recently finished the last of my outlines/reviews so I’m promotable. Next week I get a temporary promotion to 2nd assistant manager, including 2nd assistant manager pay for the week, while our current 2nd goes and does injury relief in Silverdale. It’s nice that I’m working on getting moved up, even though it’s only for a week, but it’s stressful as well, since I’ll be doing the 2nd thing at the store where I’ve been trained.
On the plus side, for the first time ever, Big 5 closes early on Halloween. Saturday night and the store closes at 7:30pm – WAHOO! Even if I get a closing shift, I’ll be off by 8:30 and that leaves plenty of evening to get up to no good 🙂 Makes sense to close early, I’m told the store is usually completely deserted in the evening on Halloween – why pay to have employees there when there aren’t customers?
Other than that, work’s been the same ol’ same ol’, with the bonus of customers that are upset with us because we don’t have much left in the way of swimwear or rubber rafts. Seriously? Just because the Kent valley may or may not flood horribly this winter, doesn’t mean it’s my job to make your life easier by carrying product out of season… And who in their right mind expects to be able to find a lot of swimsuit options in September or October in a small sporting goods store?
I ordered some stuff for my bike through Amazon.com, and it shipped on the 7th… arrived in Redmond, WA yesterday, and apparently is going to sit there for the next 5 days, since UPS is showing a delivery date of the 15th. What the heck? Quit holding my stuff hostage and deliver it already!
