So, a day short of a full six months since I’ve written here. Funny enough, I decided to write again while watching “Julie and Julia” for the first time.
I finally got my own apartment. About time, huh? Two bedroom, one bath, and it’s ALL mine! 🙂 First time my bedroom has been JUST a bedroom, not bedroom/playroom or bedroom/office/sewing room/etc. Hence the second bedroom… We still have to figure out how to get my 10 foot quilt frame down here, but my bike is keeping my desk company. And I’ve finally ordered a new (queen sized) bed! Hurray! My current bed is a double, and a broken down hand me down piece of junk. I’ve been having fun decorating and getting settled in… pictures are on facebook.
Tracking the cycling log on blogger didn’t pan out, but I’ve still been tracking miles on my computer (and the last two rides, on the cycling calendar pinned to my wall). Back in March, I went to the Seattle Bike Expo and got a free Velo News calendar… Also, as a surprise since I hadn’t taken the time to look at who was going to be at the Bike Expo, I got to meet Jef Mallett! Frazz is my absolute favorite comic strip ever, and I’m hoping that since the author is a triathlete, that one day there will be Frazz cycling jerseys. This coming Saturday is the Flying Wheels ride, and it’s going to kick my butt (and Nikki’s too). This has been one of the coldest, wettest springs… Half the time it still feels like winter. The Chilly Hilly in February was cool, but otherwise nice weather. It kicked our butts, but it was a fun ride. The STP is going to be absolutely brutal, but it’ll be great to be able to say we did it, and Dad’s coming up for the end of it in Portland, and will drive me home.
I’ve now been at Big 5 for a full year… other than that, we’re not going to get into how work is going.
I put gift certificates I got for my birthday towards a Kindle, which I absolutely love. I’m able to prop it on my car’s steering wheel (I know what you’re thinking – NOT while I’m driving!) while I eat my lunch in my car at work. As an extra bonus, most of my favorite books – by Jane Austen and L. M. Montgomery – are free since the books are so old nobody seems to care about the copyright anymore. I’m able to convert word documents to kindle-compatible for free, and then transfer them via USB. You can email them directly to the kindle, but there’s a cost for the data transfer that way. This way, I can read my fanfiction stories on my kindle 🙂 I’m currently borrowing Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy in paperback, which has reinforced why I love my Kindle so much… Trying to eat a peanut butter and jam sandwich with one hand while holding a book in the other and trying to not get any jam on me is harder than you might think!
Maybe one day I’ll get better about posting on here!
