I had been thinking about making this blog open to invited readers only, but I decided to leave it open for now. I think only two people read it, anyway, so who cares? It’s not like I’m posting super-sensitive stuff on here anyway! 🙂
After not even turning my Wii on in months and months, I got it set up at my new apartment and hooked up to my router. The main motivation behind this was signing up for Netflix, which is going to be awesome, because the disc to stream the Instant Play movies through my Wii arrived today. I also got Mario Kart, which I played last year with Nikki and her little brother, and had a blast then. I talked Mckenna through setting her Wii up for online play, since she’s got Mario Kart as well, and we spent around an hour racing each other. Or rather, I spent around an hour getting my butt kicked 🙂 It’ll be fun when Nikki’s able to come over, too. I realized today after looking at Mckenna’s facebook account that the only book she’s got listed under favorite books is Anne of Green Gables, which I’d given her for her birthday (along with Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island). It made me a little misty-eyed… I got the start of that series for her because L. M. Montgomery is my favorite author ever, with Jane Austen as a close runner-up, and I was Mckenna’s age when I got into L. M. Montgomery via Anne of Green Gables. I’m sure glad she loves the book!
I’m excited that a new Kathy Reichs book came out today – Spider Bones – it’s been nearly a year since the last one came out, and while the TV show is decent, the books are awesome. They’re also very different than the TV show – the main character’s name and profession is about the only thing that’s the same, along with the unresolved relationship-limbo between the male and female lead. I had been debating whether I would get the Kindle version or the hardcover version, but with how much easier my Kindle is to read during my lunch breaks than a paperback or hardcover book, I went ahead and pre-ordered the book for my Kindle. I had kind of spaced that the book was coming out today – I knew it came out Tuesday the 24th, but I spaced last night that it was Monday and thus the book was coming out today. I got an email from Amazon.com about my “Amazon.com Order” at 12:04am (yes, I was awake still) and after a moment of confusion, realized that it was technically Tuesday, and went and turned on the wireless for my Kindle. Voila, new book! Much excitement – I hadn’t realized that the book would be delivered right after midnight, rather than having to wait for morning. It turned out even better that I went with the Kindle version for now (I’ll probably still get the hardcover version, since I’ve got the other books in print form) because I was planning on picking up hardcover editions for myself and Nikki at Costco today, but the Costco I went to didn’t have it! I thought that was a little weird – Costco was where I got the last book, 206 Bones, on release day…
Opening shifts at work the next two days, so time to get back to Spider Bones while I get ready for bed!
