Summer finally began in late, late June here. Gorgeous, and occasionally too hot, it’s been nice since then. Yesterday was a little cooler, and today I woke up to rain, cold, and a little wind. Seriously? It’s still technically August. This had better not be the start of the nasty winter that’s being predicted… it’s supposed to rain most of the week. I also worked a “mid shift” today – 10:30am to 7:30pm, so that threw me off a little as well, with it being two to two and a half hours later than getting off work for an opening shift, and not pitch black like a closing shift. It looked more like 5pm in early November with the dim, gray sky.
Looks like Saturday night I’ll be babysitting my cousin’s little boy. I haven’t done any babysitting since high school, which seems weird, but he’s a good kid. My cousin used to babysit me when I was little, so things have come full circle, more or less. Although I’m bound to have an easier time than she did with me. I wasn’t allowed to use my mom’s sewing machine when I was being babysat, but I could use my toy sewing machine with a walking presser foot (and real needle). I’d gotten used to the presser foot on Mom’s Singer keeping my fingers safe, but on this little bugger, the foot went up and down, and my finger went underneath. So I’m in the middle of being babysat, with a sewing machine needle through my index finger (and fingernail), with the little machine jammed, and bleeding like a stuck pig, crying, and probably screaming. I’m not sure if I backed up the needle or how I got free, but I think it traumatized me and both my cousins. But my cousin’s little boy doesn’t have a toy sewing machine, so I should be safe 😉
I finally went into the doctor about my sinus muck, thinking it had turned into an ear infection. No ear infection, but I got put on antibiotics for a sinus infection, which means I should feel better soon. Today I’m exhausted, my head hurts (mostly from sinus stuff), and I’m dizzy. Whee.
