I’m aware that it’s been about a year and a half since I’ve posted. I’ve been trying to organize some thoughts for reemerging into the blogging world, though I don’t expect it to be horribly productive.
Life has been busy the last year… Good busy, and wonderful busy. Got into some hiking over the summer, and I’ve linked my PhotoBucket account on the right side of this blog. I’ve been loving taking photos on the hikes, but on some of the hikes – like High Rock – I don’t really feel like my little point-and-shoot has done the views justice. I just ordered a Canon Rebel T3i digital SLR. It will be more weight than a point and shoot to carry on hikes, but it should be worth it for photo quality!
I finished a wall hanging quilt that I hand quilted, and doing that has made me realize that I’m not up to hand quilting the big Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt that I’ve been working on for years… a chiropractor and surgery for carpal tunnel would be involved, and I’m not exaggerating. I’m hoping to find somebody to machine quilt it within the next year, so I can get the binding on and get it finished finally.
I’m not in an apartment anymore, for which I’m very thankful. I’m loving living with my boyfriend (of over a year now) and we’re renting a house. It’s great having a yard again, and I’m looking forward to having a yard and garden to play in when winter is over. This past weekend I bought some Jiffy Pots and several seed packets and those are set up on the enclosed back porch. A wildflower mix, some Forget-Me-Nots, two corn varieties, pumpkins, and tomatoes. I have no idea what I’m going to do with the corn and pumpkin starts if they take, but it may involve digging up a corner of the grass for some vegetable garden!
The weather has been nice the last few days, so we started going on walks in the mornings that I don’t work early (if you call two walks “starting”). There’s a paved path near the house, and to the end and back is 5 miles round trip. My legs are cramped up, but it feels great to be out in the sunshine and fresh air finally!
