Our gimpy squirrel seems to be a huge fan, but I put the suet out for the birds… His back left leg doesn’t seem to work, but that doesn’t seem to stop him at all! When I opened the door, he even climbed back up the chain into the tree rather than falling off like I’ve seen another squirrel do. Of course, he’s got Destin trained well… the squirrel sees us (like if we open the door) and he comes up onto the porch, and Destin gets peanuts for him!
Yesterday was a pretty productive day off. I got a new USB SD card reader, since my laptop has issues ejecting my SanDisk Extreme 16GB class 10 SDHC Card. And by issues, I mean “go get the needle nose pliers.” The USB reader doesn’t swallow the card completely, so it’s easier to remove. The card is sweet though – should help with how rapidly I can take photos. Got my oil changed, the front license plate bracket installed (I prefer the look without, but it’s the law in this state to have a front license plate), and I also finally got my mom off of my bank accounts. Having her cosigned on them hasn’t been a problem, but I think at 27 it’s time to have just my name on them!
WARNING! Don’t keep reading if you’re squeamish!
I also gave blood yesterday, which makes donation #19 today… and the first time they’ve had any issues with the equipment with me. How the Puget Sound Blood Center does donations, is that they hook one tube into your arm which branches into two tubes. It initially fills a small baggie that holds maybe a quarter of a cup of blood, which they then clamp off and open the connection into your pint donation bag. Once the first bag is clamped off, they use a valve at the bottom of that to fill four vials for testing/typing. Evidently, this connection can be faulty at times, and this connector came clean off when they went to fill the vials. Blood goes a long way on a tile floor! I wasn’t actively bleeding it onto the floor, and the tech was freaking out a little at making such a (biohazard) mess, so all I could do was sit there and laugh… and get into the camera app on my phone. Sure glad I’d hung my purse off the other arm of the chair rather than setting it on the floor like I do at times!
