NO, I am NOT pregnant. Not that kind of addition.
My dad’s fiancee is having to re-home her cat before she moves in with my dad, and she’s just too cute to pass up. I haven’t actually met Mia in person, but a scant six pounds of fluffy kitty is going to be awesome. I think Monkey’s probably around 9 or 10 pounds now, and feels like more when she’s laying on my chest when I’m trying to sleep.
I’ve been researching introducing two cats, and I’ve sent Karen a list of questions about Mia to learn more about her to make the transition smoother – she’ll be facing a lot of changes – new house, new owner, and another kitty to contend with. We’ll be waiting to have Karen send Mia up until after we’ve settled well into the new house and the weather has warmed up. Mid May?
Thankfully, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Monkey act aggressively towards other cats. She and the melon-head cat (it’s got a head practically the size of a cantaloupe) more or less ignore each other beyond sniffing noses occasionally. The two orange cats in our neighborhood tend to chase and try to attack Monkey, but she usually ends up hiding in her box, or up a tree. Karen says that Mia has done well with other cats before, too, so I’m just hoping that Monkey doesn’t take offence to somebody else in her house getting pets and snuggles.
Here’s hoping that Monkey and Mia will snuggle each other at night instead of trying to snuggle us! With my luck I’ll end up with TWO cats trying to snuggle my face instead of just the one…
