Now that Christmas is over, and all those little projects are done, I’m at a loss for what to crochet next! I have a cross stitch that I need to work on (and have been) but there are times when you can whip out your project, crochet a few stitches/rows/rounds, and then shove it back in its bag, while cross stitch requires a lot more attention!
I found a lovely top on Ravelry that I’d love to crochet, but I’m stuck still looking for the right yarn. JoAnn Fabrics and Michaels have… diddly. The yarn the pattern calls for is a blend that those stores just don’t carry, and there aren’t many yarn shops around here. It looks like there’s supposed to be a decently sized one up near where my Grandma lives, so perhaps I’ll head up there next weekend. I also would love to find someplace that sells nice cotton yarn, like Patons Grace, or SMC Catania. To get any good colors, I’m currently stuck ordering online.
Other ideas I’ve been working on are crochet flower broches, perhaps a blanket or afghan, or getting ahead on next year’s little Christmassy gifts. I have been having a little fun trying out some crochet flower patterns, though most of them get frogged instead of binding off if I’m not totally thrilled with them (the consequences of running low on my nice cotton yarn). I had a five petal flower, a rose, and some leaves come out nicely though. The rose could be fun on an infant headband in a smaller size, since the yarn I used matches the dress on the brown bunny I made for my niece.
