Green onions (odd, the seed packet says “white onion” but on the produce shelf at the grocery store, it says green onion…), tomato, yellow onions, thyme, oregano, rosemary, broccoli, basil, Italian parsley, sage (impulse buy), and kale have been planted! I had fun at Watson’s Greenhouse and Nursery today – they had a great selection of non-GMO and heirloom seeds! Hopefully my two 4′ “Plant/Aquarium” fluorescent bulbs in a shop light fixture are sufficient for my little seedlings to start. Hopefully if things do okay this year, I can justify getting a heating mat for the seed trays next year! (The garage is still a bit chilly)
Obviously it doesn’t look like much yet!
I also got my templates for plant spacing marked out today, and Mom’s husband Drew was kind enough to drill out the holes for me with 2″ and 3″ hole saws. I got all the edges rounded off via sanding, and gave myself a blister in the process. Hopefully over the next couple days, I can get them painted! (Partly just for fun, and partly for protection against moisture)
