…but not the George Takeii type of “oh myyy!” 🙂
I’ve finally jumped on board with the Photo-a-Day challenge by FatMumSlim, because it’s been looking fun. I’m posting photos as I go on Instagram, and my uploads can be seen at mdruddy85. I will also be posting all of them here on my blog all in one go at the end of the month. Challenge prompts for July from FatMumSlim can be found here. I am cheating (at least I suspect it may be cheating)… my Canon DSLR takes such better photos than my cell phone, whose photos look somewhat blurry or out of focus once on the big screen of my computer, so I’m taking a few extra steps… and taking photos with my DSLR, then getting them onto my cell phone to put them on Instagram. Probably stupid, but I’m also trying to get in the habit of using my DSLR more, and learning more of the features on it.
In other news… my garden is coming along oh-so-slowly, but at least nothing’s dead yet. My beans are finally starting to climb my trellis, and my sunflowers are working their way to taller than my trellis. Hopefully they make for some good eating for me in addition to the seeds I’m sure the birds will steal!
Monkey was forcibly indoor-only kitty on Independence Day… she’s a lot braver than Mia, but she still startles at the really loud noises, and I didn’t want her getting hurt from any fireworks either. She spent a good portion of the day crying at assorted doors to go outside, and eventually settled down to sulk on her favorite chair, watching out the window. Mia spooked a few times, and spent a little time under the bed, but things like doorbells and Destin cleaning the moss off of the roof also send her scurrying for under the bed, so that wasn’t too out of the ordinary.
Since we’ve both been working early hours (Destin much earlier and longer than me), we didn’t blow anything up on fourth of July, and went to bed early (we sound like such party poopers!). We got up at a decently early hour for a Saturday on the 5th, and got some errands done, as well as a spur-of-the-moment run to Sears to take advantage of the sale they were having for the holiday weekend. After we got back, Destin left his truck open, and Monkey decided to investigate the new sleeping options, and managed to sleep on all portions of the back bench seat of his truck.
Mia should have an exciting Monday next week, as I’ve got her scheduled for her yearly haircut. She looks hilarious all shaved, but as soon as the anesthesia wears off, she loves it… It was in the 80s here today, and still is about 75 in the house at 9:30 at night which makes for a toasty long-haired black kitty that appears to be part woolly mammoth. She also gets mats in her fur that pull when she moves, since she won’t cooperate with being brushed. Photos will happen!
