For a friend/coworker’s birthday, I made a smaller version of the crochet hook case I made for myself last fall. She crochets, and since she’s awesome at baking, I hope she likes the cupcake fabric!
This version holds 12 hooks (as opposed to the 31 in my original version), and will still accommodate the styles of hooks with grip handles. At some point I’ll have to write up a pattern for a smaller version like this, since it seems like a lot of crocheters don’t go out and decide they must own every single hook size! The top flap overlaps the bottom pocket, so there shouldn’t be any escapee crochet hooks if the case is tumbled around.
I used the same button-and-elastic-loop closure that I used on mine – it seems to work very well. The color in the photo is off, but the button is a green that matches the interior color of the case.
