This past Saturday, Destin and I headed down to Brooks, Oregon for a truck show at Antique Powerland. There were antique, new, and “working” trucks at the show, as well as some exhibit areas with antique John Deere and Caterpillar equipment.
I liked the antique trucks much better than the newer trucks, and the antique John Deere and Caterpillar equipment was pretty cool.
In with some of the antique tractors and logging equipment, there was a cross section of a rather large tree – I’m sure not as large as some of the old-growth out on the Olympic Peninsula, and definitely not as large as some of the old logging photos.
At a sawmill setup, they had a steam engine running belts for all sorts of sawmill equipment. I like the sounds of steam engines – the chug-chug-chug as they’re winding up sounds really neat 🙂 Next year we’ll have to check out the “Steam-Up” down there… Steam engines, and a quilt show all in one!
I did learn that I evidently need to be spending more time outdoors in the summer time – even with sunglasses and a ball cap, being in the direct sun for several hours straight ended up giving me a migraine, which made for a miserable ride home!
