I’ve named the purse pattern “York purses” for the time being, after the girls they were designed for, to use on their upcoming trip to Disneyland. My friend had told me that she was looking for small purses for her daughters for their trip, but was having trouble finding something just right.
I started sketching, and after running a few ideas past her, came up with a design for a small purse with a front flap (closed with a magnetic snap) and a zipper. The zipper was the most important – her girls will be around 3 and 4 at the time of their trip, and the zipper will keep anything from falling out! I thought the front flap would be fun to be able to put pins on, and as a good spot for a Minnie Mouse applique. One girl’s favorite color is pink, and one blue, and I was happily able to find a cute pink fabric as well as a “girly” blue fabric. The shoulder strap is adjustable, so it can be worn cross-body, or just danging from one shoulder. I know from my experience that cross-body is more comfortable and more secure!
