Insert nerd *squee* here!
My Asus C200 Chromebook came! I’d been contemplating getting one for quite a while. I have a tablet, which is great for web browsing and Netflix, but it is kind of a nightmare to type on, even with the bluetooth keyboard I got for it. The keyboard is awkward, and it really has to be used at a desk, rather than being able to type while I’m sitting on the couch, etc. I also was frustrated with not being able to get photos from my camera to my tablet without involving my computer. I was able to upload the photo above from my SD card to my blog with my Chromebook, though!
So I did some research, and a Chromebook seemed to be the best bang for my buck, laptop-wise. I still intend for my desktop to be my primary machine, so I like that the Chromebook is entirely web-based, so all my files on it will be accessible on my desktop through Google Drive. I can browse the internet, play shows and movies on Netflix, blog (which I’m doing right now from it!) and email easily… Comparable laptops for the price weren’t as small (I was looking for easily portable), and you really can’t beat the battery life of this Chromebook if it’s anywhere close to the manufacturer’s specs – eleven hours!
The keyboard feels a little awkward – it’s a small computer, with an 11.6″ screen and a keyboard size to match, and I’m used to my Logitech Wave keyboard, but it feels better already than the Samsung bluetooth keyboard I have to go with my tablet. Being that size, though, it’s small enough to be able to fit in my (ginormous) purse.
I’m really interested to see if this will change my blogging at all, as far as frequency of posting goes!
…and I’m definitely going to need to be good about wearing my glasses when working with this little machine!
