This past weekend, we started decorating for Christmas. I’ve been working on presents for several weeks now, but it’s finally time to get the decorations up.
We have an artificial tree that I had put up this past Tuesday, and finally got around to decorating yesterday. I’ve also dragged out a few of the Christmas decorations. Monkey and Mia have been taking turns enjoying the fleece Christmas tree skirt – they both loved laying under the tree last year – but they still haven’t gotten to the stage of getting along where they can both enjoy it at the same time!
As a surprise for Destin, I decorated our little Japanese Maple tree today. It would have been a lot easier if it had already dropped all of its leaves like it had by this time last year. We both really like the “Flame Tree” at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium Zoolights, so that was the inspiration behind my light choices for this tree. I didn’t get as many lights on it as I would have liked, for the final look, but that’s 700 lights! The boxes say that you can connect no more than nine strings of 100 lights, so I could have put two more strings of lights on the tree, but I also don’t want to blow the breaker when we get the rest of the lights on the front of the house.
I made a Christmas card holder for the wall by our front door. It went together easily, and hopefully it works out okay – just two kinds of ribbon, some clothespins, and a couple of thumbtacks.
I’ve also got knitted projects blocking, a gift for the “Secret Santa” exchange at work sitting in-progress on a crochet hook, and fabric in the washer and dryer, pre-shrinking! Perhaps cookies will happen tomorrow…
