Monkey has been extra snuggly the last few days. She’s normally very interested in being friendly if you’re eating something she wants, but otherwise isn’t too much of a lap kitty, and likes to spend her nights outdoors hunting all sorts of delightful things. Last night, much to Mia’s dismay (who is very much a snuggle kitty at night), Monkey spent the entire night snuggled between us on the bed, in what both kitties seem to consider to be the prime snuggle spot.
I suspect Monkey snuggling last night may be one of the reasons that Mia has spent most of the day and all of the evening camped out, napping, on my pillow. She wants first dibs on the prime spot when we finally go to bed!
My fish tank is doing fairly well. A few of my frogs didn’t make it, so I’d like to get some more frogs and maybe a few more tetras. The bristle-nosed pleco wasn’t quite keeping up on little bits of algae growing on the walls of my tank (and I really hate scrubbing the inside of it) so I got a yellow “mystery snail” to help out, and between the two of them, the tank is doing pretty well. Current head count is 1 betta (Spike), 11 neon Tetras (collectively named “the fishsticks”), 1 bristle-nosed pleco (Roomba), 1 yellow mystery snail (currently unnamed), and two African dwarf frogs (also currently unnamed), all in a 29 gallon aquarium. I’ll try to get a decent photo of it soon.
Monkey enjoys watching the tank from the back of a chair nearby, but thankfully has not tried to climb onto the tank, or (more thankfully) get into the tank. She also seems to be staying off of the buffet I’ve got the tank resting on, which is odd because I think it’s the one piece of furniture she’s not constantly trying to perch on the top of! From what I can tell, Mia either still hasn’t noticed that there’s something moving around in the fish tank, or doesn’t care.
(Like you needed four paragraphs on my pets, right?)
I haven’t been doing much sewing or other crafting lately, which I’ve come to realize is what the majority of my blog posts tend to be about – especially in the winter months when there’s not much to do outside. I do have one or two projects slowly in the works that I’ll post photos of once they’re complete, though 🙂 I’ve also been having fun playing with my new day planner (more on it later). Somehow with as much technology is at my fingertips, and as much as I’ve grown up using it, I’m still more comfortable with a paper-and-pen day planner and calendar. Plus, notebooks are kind of one of my addictions. It has been rather nice to find a little down time, and relax.
I did finally get our Christmas tree taken down last week, and argued with the two sections of lights that had gone out after I decorated it until they were working again. I’m still not entirely sure what happened, but I’m glad I got them working again, since the tree is “pre-lit” and it would have been a pain to un-string all the lights from it!
We do have some fun plans in the works – one of these weekend days we’re hoping to grab our snowshoes and go check out the snow up at Paradise at Mount Rainier, or one of the mountain passes, and we’ve booked a hotel to stay the night in Leavenworth, Washington at the end of the month. That should be a fun weekend getaway, and a nice little birthday hurrah for the both of us since our birthdays are right around our trip.
