One of my friends from work enjoys ghost hunts, and co-authored Tacoma’s Haunted History… so instead of a normal red-haired cheerful Annie, she needed more of a spooky/gothic Annie! Partially due to time constraints (seriously, next year I need to start hand making gifts in June or July, or I need somebody to slap me silly when I decide to start sewing in November), and partially because I wanted her input on some of Spooky Annie’s features, she got a gift certificate for the Annie for Christmas.
…and then I got carried away and made a second one. They still turned out quite cheerful, in spite of their pale complexion and dark clothing, and are up for all sorts of adventures.
The first Annie decided she simply must have blue hair, and had to have a gray hair bow as the black just didn’t show against her dark hair well enough! Please excuse her immodesty in her first photo.
The other Annie wanted to experience the life of a blonde, and pierced her left eyebrow as well. Luckily for her, she didn’t have to make any exchanges on her hair bow as the black contrasted quite nicely with her hair. She’s for my friend’s daughter – and I hold no responsibility for their hair color, my friend and her daughter picked the hair for both dolls!
It was fun to put a twist on the typical Raggedy Ann, even though I think the “official” patterns you can buy from the craft store are far creepier (they look like clowns). Hopefully I’ll finally get the dress finished soon for my Sweet Annie that will match my niece’s, since she’s been sitting around on a shelf in her birthday suit since late December!
