Several months back while I was still up to my eyeballs in Christmas sewing, one of my friends requested a wrap for his fountain pens. After Christmas, I finally got around to working out the design based on the pen dimensions I was given, had him pick out some fabric – I love the Tim Holtz fabrics – and about two weeks ago I finally found the fabric that seemed right for the outside of the wrap – a cotton canvas woven in a ripstop pattern.
The design is partly based on my crochet hook cases, and partly on some online images for other pen wraps. Thanks to having made a couple of crochet hook cases, the order of assembly was pretty easy to figure out!
The first pen wrap I made (version 1.0), actually ended up a little short for the pen height I was designing it for, so that one will likely end up on my Etsy shop soon, and the measurements were re-figured for version 2.0! Although, with only minimal changes, I suppose it should have been version 1.1?
The pen slots are just a slight bit wider on the second wrap, and the overall height is greater to accommodate the taller pens. V 2.0 will be headed off to California shortly, and I hope to share photos after it is properly loaded up with fountain pens, as well!
(And yes, I’m aware those are Sharpies in the photos… I only own one fountain pen since I find them messy to use!)
I also added a small tag to the scarf that I knitted for my mom for Christmas. I’d ordered a smaller version of my tags in late November from “customcouturelabelco,” whom I had ordered my original labels from, but that ended up being a bit of a fiasco. Excellent product from the seller, and great service on her part, but the post office failed to hold up their end of the bargain. My tags finally arrived late January, so I borrowed my mom’s scarf back, and added a little tag to it!
I’ve also been finishing up some more canvas bags for my Etsy shop, which I hope to have posted by Saturday evening. Check it out! I’ve got at least one more print in the works for my bags, but no ETA on it yet, and I’ve got plans to go to the Sewing & Stitchery Expo at the Puyallup Fairgrounds on Sunday morning with my mom, which I’m very excited about! 🙂
