Another one of the ladies at work is having a baby girl, so I took the opportunity to buy some adorable pink fabric and break out the Straight Grain Bubble Dress pattern again! (I made two for my niece for her first birthday, one for her second birthday, and a dress for another coworker’s baby shower last fall!) Clothing in the 12 month range was on her wish list, which was perfect as that is the smallest size this pattern comes in! This dress is a bit late as I missed the work baby shower due to being sick… and then I was rather busy wrapping up my mini quilt! Here’s hoping that gifting it tomorrow or the next day isn’t too late!
I love that this pattern comes together easily and quickly – I cut the lining for the dress yesterday, but tonight I cut the rest of the fabric, and got the dress put together… all after getting home around 5pm!
I found some great pink fabric in a polyester/cotton blend that my mom calls “seersucker” that’s got some nice body for the bubble skirt. I loved the pink zebra stripe for the lining, too! I added a ribbon bow to the dress for a little accent, since the dress just looked a little plain without something. Since a 12 month size will also likely put the little one in fall/winter when this dress finally fits, I’ll be gifting it with a long-sleeved onesie. I picked a pink one up at the store, but it’s more on the “peach” side of pink so I may try to get a white onesie instead, or one that’s darker pink. Layered over a long sleeve onesie and some tights, this dress ought to work for fall/winter, too! Baby girl things are just too adorable, aren’t they?
