The giveaway is now closed! The winner is announced in a new post! 🙂
Happy New Year!
I’m starting the new year by checking off one long-overdue item on my to-do list: this blog giveaway for a 241 tote!
I’ve been planning on doing this giveaway forever (a truly embarrassing length of time), and I finally got the bag done, and had decent lighting (aka daylight) to photograph it! The pattern is the 241 Tote by the lovely Anna at Noodlehead. I’d started two of these bags back in April (one for me, one for a giveaway), made some decent progress, and then got distracted by other projects until November, when I finally finished the first one (mine!) and only had the shoulder strap to go on the second one. Then Christmas sewing hit, and I finally got the shoulder strap done a week or so ago, and got around to photographing it today! Across the middle, the body of the tote measures approximately 12 inches wide and 12 inches tall.
You can click on the photo above to view it full-size and zoom in for details. The two middle photos are of the bag turned inside-out in order to see the pockets. There is a zip pocket that is on the inside back of the bag, and a slip pocket on the inside front that’s even big enough to fit my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phone, so it should hold most of the larger smart phones. You can see the strap length difference between the first and last photos – I made it adjustable, because I like to have the option between carrying my purse over my right shoulder, or lengthening the strap to carry it cross-body, and the strap ended up the right length for both!
If I ever make another one, I know I’ll make a few changes. The outside pockets look neat, and could be good for keys and such (I added a key strap to the pocket facing forward when wearing the bag on your right side to keep your keys from falling out and getting lost, thanks to an idea I came across online), but the outsize zip pockets end up so small they’re not good for much, except maybe loose change. I came across a modification online somewhere (I can’t remember where to give credit) to only do one outside zip pocket, and to enlarge the pocket interior (it’s sandwiched between the outside and the lining) to cover most of the inside front of the bag to make it more functional.
So, how to enter: The Giveaway Rules!
You must leave a comment here on this blog post with whatever feature you look for most in a purse. To make sure nobody entering gets missed, likes and comments on Facebook and Instagram will not count, and I’m not setting this up so you can earn more entries by sharing/liking a gazillion places. One entry per person. Guys, you’re welcome to enter also, there will be no judging!
I do use akismet for spam filtering, so I highly recommend that you do not leave a URL in the text of your comment. Leaving your website’s URL in the box that suggests that is fine, but URLs in the body of the comment seem to be a huge red flag for akismet. Also, if you haven’t had a comment approved on my blog before, I will have to approve it (and there are one or two regular commenters that routinely end up in my spam folder for reasons I can’t figure out), so please give me a day to approve your comment. I promise I will be checking this daily, and if you do not see your comment appear after 24 hours, please email me your comment and I’ll make sure it gets on the list!
This giveaway ends at 11:59pm (Pacific Standard Time) on Friday, January 8th, at which point I will close comments for this post. A winner will be drawn that weekend, and I will contact you for your mailing address. I will use a random number generator to pick the winner. The bag will be mailed within a week, barring unforeseen catastrophe. If I see you regularly in person, I’ll arrange a meet up to save on shipping dollars and time 🙂
International entries are allowed. I’ll do my best to enter a low value on any customs forms required so you won’t get stuck with fees, but if something goes wrong, you will be responsible for any customs fees that appear on your end.
Please, only one entry per person. If I find multiple comments from the same email address, additional comments will be deleted. Multiple entries per household are acceptable, as long as they are from different household members. Just be fair. Because I’ll be using a random number generator to pick the winner, family members are welcome to enter.
Let the giveaway begin!
