I’ve done a few other months here and there, and then gave it up for a bit, but I was hoping to do every single day this year. And I did it! All 366 days, and only one was a day late! Hurrah!!
Here’s the “tl;dr” version, and you can scroll down to see the photos (and some commentary) larger!
December 8th: something red… brake lights. All. The. Way. Home. It took twice as long to get home tonight as it usually does due to the weather. The snow itself wouldn’t have been bad, but the road was icing up in spots, and there’s a big hill on the drive home.
December 12th: decoration… my favorite homemade Christmas decoration, a little Santa I crocheted from a pattern by Diana
December 13th I hear… since Destin is working late and I’m home alone, the electric wall heater is pretty much all I hear… and it’s a welcome sound after freezing my arse off all day at work, since the heating on my floor has been out since Friday morning!
December 14th: fun… I had a lot of fun making this “purse” tonight for a friend’s 3 year old son that has decided he desperately wants a purse of his own for Christmas, since his mom and sister have one. I’ll do a proper blog post on it soon!
December 16th: breakfast… the girls got a warm breakfast again this morning, as an apology for the 24 degree weather. Penelope was in a nest box when I took this photo, working on an egg. I think the oatmeal slop I’ve been feeding them is disgusting (this morning was egg-drop-apple-and-pea-oatmeal) but they’ve pecked the bowl clean every time!
December 25th: something new… Destin got me a canopy for Christmas, so I can sign up for outdoor fairs and farmers markets! He got me walls for it, too, but we decided to not try and wrangle them today after one of my chickens pooed right there on the driveway while enjoying some free range time. I’m so excited for my canopy – time to get sewing and candle making!
December 26th: last thing I read… technically, the last thing I read that wasn’t on my phone or computer – the recipes for last night’s dinner: roast chicken, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, and broccoli. Yum!
December 27th: super!… I had a super productive evening. In addition to making 21 candles (7 batches) I also started making chicken stock from the Christmas chicken that I hope to pressure-can tomorrow or Thursday. I’m exhausted!
December 29th: happiness is… at this point, laying back with my feet up! The last several days have involved several hours of being on my feet in the kitchen each night working (mostly) on my candles… and it feels so good right now to not be standing up!
December 30th: anything you like… today’s prompt was a freebie, so here’s another look at my current project: I’m working on wax melts that match most of my candle scents, both in this “single serving” size, and in the little plastic clamshells that break apart into six bits. These are a lot of fun to make!
December 31st: celebration… yeah, this is how we spent our New Year’s Eve… binge watching Supernatural and in bed before midnight. I am super excited, though, to have finished out the entire year of the photo-a-day challenge from FatMumSlim!
